Julie McCormick, a native of Florida, is an alumni of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, GA. Donald Trimble Mortuary in Decatur, GA is where she completed her apprenticeship, while her internship requirement was fulfilled at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Scottsdale Chapel. In 2007, she became licensed as a funeral director & embalmer in the state of Georgia. During her employment at Levett & Sons Funeral Home, her co-workers referred to her as being compassionate, meticulous, and patience in meeting the needs of families she came in contact with. She is currently licensed in the State of Florida and serves as the LFDIC at McCormick Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC.

Julie McCormick proudly joins the list as she and her family own and operate McCormick Funeral Home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Julie joined the funeral service profession under the nurturing of the late Mr. James C. Boyd, Sr. She stated, “My knowledge of the industry emanates from connecting with Mr. Boyd. He took me under his tutelage and selflessness taught me how to effectively manage the business; for that I am most grateful.”
A mother of three wonderful daughters (Shaina, Shay and Shannon) and precious grandson (Jordon), Julie credits her parents for raising her and her sisters to serve others. She recalls spending many Saturdays with her mother and siblings visiting home bound individuals who were debilitated. During the visits, they would clean, cook, sing, read the bible, and pray with them. She and her siblings (the McCormick Sisters) not only travelled across the country to sing gospel, they frequented convalescent homes, hospitals, and prisons.
Julie holds a B.S. in Psychology, A.S. in Funeral Service and A.A. in Liberal Arts. Additionally, in June 2018, she resigned from teaching civics at Lauderhill 6-12. “Whether teaching in the classroom or guiding people through a traumatic time, I will continue to serve with compassion and integrity (1 Peter 4:10). I want people to know that there is still an abundance of genuine caring people in this world.”
April McCormick-Rymer, MSN, ARNP, APN-BC, brings a wealth of genuine care and compassion to the business. Born and raised in Florida, she received a master’s degree in nursing with a concentration in advanced practice nursing from South University in Savannah, Georgia.She is the owner and clinical director of Vital for Life, Inc. in Lauderhill, Florida.
Over the past 17 years her passion as a nurse educator and preceptor has employed her the provided enjoyment of empowering patients, families, students, and the community in several of health topics. Her love for learning has afforded her the ability to create an environment for learning and design an institution for training former and new nurses in care practices inside the Healthcare Center she directs. She enjoys mentoring up and coming nurses who share the same passion for advancing knowledge and promoting quality of life in the healthcare arena.
For the past 15+ years, April’s extensive level of experience and love for healthcare has extended itself to writing training manuals and instructing group/private educational training in healthcare administration, nurse care, geriatric, etc.
As for funeral service, April immediately jumped on board when asked to venture out into the business with her sister, Julie and her niece, Shaina. She received her Funeral Arts Certificate from St. Petersburg College and completed her funeral director’s internship with Fuller Brothers Funeral Home.
Raised to care for others as she and her siblings did on a regular basis, April currently continues to do so. Her ability to empathize with individuals from all walks of life with a caring, considerate, undiscriminating demeanor brings much to the business.
Shaina Boyd attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her business degree from Broward College and is attending FAU College of Business to further her education in Management. Her dutiful, cheery, creative and welcoming personality does not go unnoticed as she genuinely reach out to meet the need of those she come in contact with. She returned home in 2014 and immediately joined her mother in birthing McCormick Funeral Home.
